In the village of Tuguluk, Grachevsky District, the festival of young potatoes was held for the fourth time. Local residents offered guests delicious potatoes grown in their backyards, they treat them to a variety of potato dishes, the government of the Stavropol Territory said. About 10,000 tons of this crop were produced in the Grachevsky District last year.
Employees and students of Stavropol State Agrarian University visited the IV Tuguluk holiday - the New Potato Festival. The University was represented by Associate Professor of the Department of Production and Processing of Food Products from Vegetable Raw Materials of the Faculty of Agrobiology and Land Resources Maria Vladimirovna Selivanova, 4th year students of the direction "Agronomy" Anna Apanasenko, Sabir Mekhtiyev, and a student of the Faculty of Secondary Vocational Education Daria Shchetinina. The participants of the festival were welcomed by the head of the Grachevsky municipal district Sergey Leonidovich Filichkin and his deputies.
Within the framework of the festival, shopping arcades were organized, samples of young potatoes of the main zoned varieties (Aurora, Romano, Picasso, etc.) and other fresh vegetable products were presented.
The festival was attended by manufacturers of fertilizers, plant protection products, biological products and equipment used in the cultivation of potatoes.
In parallel with the event, a photo exhibition “My Tuguluk is my joy” and a book exhibition “Garden without hassle” were held. The cultural part of the festival consisted of a sightseeing tour of the village. Tuguluk and the XIII Folk Art Festival "Native Village Sings", dedicated to the "Year of Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia".
The Young Potato Festival presented a wide range of potatoes from our region, and made it possible to appreciate the excellent taste of tubers at the beginning of the season.
