School № 6 in Pelagiada village hosted the debate "Patriotism and modern youth". During the event, schoolchildren got acquainted with the history of the National Unity Day holiday, which all of Russia will celebrate on November 4 and which has a deep patriotic meaning - the unity of the Russian people, the desire to be strong and courageous in the face of danger.
National Unity Day was established in memory of the events of 1612, when the people's militia led by Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky liberated Moscow from the Polish invaders. This is not a new holiday at all, but a return to an old tradition. The celebration of the Most Holy Theotokos, in honor of Her icon, called "Kazan", was established on this day in gratitude for the deliverance of Moscow and all of Russia from the invasion of the Poles in 1612.
Mikhail Galtsev, a first-year student of the Faculty of Electrical Power Engineering of the University, made a report “Veterans of the Great Patriotic War, heroes of the Chechen war and participants in a special operation to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine - residents of Pelagiada village”.
The children also watched a video about Russia, its sights, people and customs, reflected on the words of famous people and came to the conclusion that it is the duty of a citizen to work for the good of his Motherland, to be a useful member of society.
The event was organized as part of the cooperation of the Stavropol State Agrarian University, the staff of the Department of Philosophy and History of the University with the Secondary School № 6 in Pelagiada village.
