SSAU students expanded their knowledge of veterinary endocrinology

At the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the partner company "KRKA" held a professional conference on the topic "Veterinary endocrinology".

The conference was designed for both general practitioners and veterinarians specializing in veterinary endocrinology, and thanks to the accessible form it proved useful for novice veterinary specialists. The event was attended by more than 100 practicing veterinarians of urban and rural areas, state veterinary services, representatives of pharmaceutical companies and scientific organizations, students and teachers of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Also, more than 200 participants from 19 subjects of the Russian Federation joined the conference online.

The chief speaker Olga Smirnova, Candidate of Biological Sciences, practicing veterinarian with more than 15 years of experience, author of scientific articles, lecturer and participant of major veterinary events in St. Petersburg, Sochi, Kazan, etc., told about ultrasound of the adrenal glands and thyroid gland and features of endocrinological diseases of small pets: diabetes mellitus and hyperthyroidism. Practical skills of surgical methods of treatment of complex cases in dogs and cats were presented. The event helped not only to replenish knowledge in the field of diagnosis and treatment of endocrinological pathologies in animals, but also to strengthen knowledge in the diagnosis of many other diseases associated with hormonal disorders.

– The cycle of professional lectures has been launched at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine since 2019 and is designed to promote the development of a practice-oriented approach in the educational and practical activities of veterinary specialists by providing open access to modern knowledge and advanced developments through communication with highly specialized specialists of leading veterinary clinics of our country. We consider it expedient to continue holding such events in this format in order to obtain new competencies from leading practitioners, - Valentin Skripkin, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnological Faculty, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor.
