Scientists of Stavropol State Agrarian University were the first in Russia to conduct fundamental research on the small intestine of rabbits

18.04.2023

New ideas about macro anatomy will allow veterinarians to almost completely eliminate the possibility of postoperative complications in mammals of the order Lagomorphs in the case of surgical interventions.

The author of the scientific work was the professor of the Department of Parasitology and Veterinary and Sanitary Expertise, Anatomy and Pathological Anatomy named after Professor S.N. Nikolsky, Doctor of Biological Sciences Vladislav Porublev. In his work, he first studied and systematized the structural features of the ileal artery in 10-month-old rabbits. The results of the study were presented to scientists at the national scientific-practical conference “Modern problems in the development of veterinary medicine and biotechnology” in Orenburg.

“Thanks to new scientific data on the structure of the arteries of the small intestine in rabbits, veterinarians will be able to choose the optimal access to its damaged areas during surgical procedures, as well as choose the best part of the intestine in terms of the structure of the bloodstream to replace damaged organs, such as the esophagus,” emphasized Professor Vladislav Porublev.

The results of scientific work can be used in the organization of the educational process at the veterinary and zooengineering faculties of higher educational institutions in the study of specific features of the anatomy of the intestines of rabbits and its bloodstream. In addition, scientific data can become a basis for writing textbooks, manuals and monographs on the comparative morphology of small productive domestic animals.
