We learned more about forest protection and forest pathological monitoring

The Forest Protection Center opened its doors for students of the Faculty of Agrobiology and Land Resources, studying in the direction of "Agronomy" (profile "Protection of Plants").

In order to attract the attention of the youth to the issues of protection, restoration, enhancement of forest resources and the cultivation of a cautious attitude to the forest, in the framework of the All-Russian action "Everything Begins with a Seed", dedicated to the Year of Ecology, the branch of the FBI "Roslesozaschita" "The Forest Protection Center of the Stavropol Territory" A thematic meeting of students of the Agrarian University.

The Forest Protection Center of the UK provides methodological and technical support for the protection of the forest fund of Stavropol, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachaevo-Cherkessia, North Ossetia-Alania, Rostov Region from harmful insects, diseases and other pathological factors.

The engineer of the I category of the Stavropol forest seed station Elena Aleksandrovna Derkach acquainted students with the features of quality control of forest seeds in order to meet the needs of reforestation and afforestation with seeds with high seeding qualities and hereditary properties.

The students were presented with a collection of seeds of forest plants, clearly showed how the seed germination on the germination apparatus and their viability are determined by the method of staining with indigo carmine. The phytopathological and entomological analysis of the seeds caused great interest in the students.

The organization and management of forest pathological monitoring in the serviced territory was described by the forest-pathologist of the 1st category of the department of state forest pathological monitoring and forest protection Dmitry Aleksandrovich Pavlov. The presented collection of useful insect entomophages caused discussion about methods of conservation of their biodiversity and abundance in forest ecosystems.

The event allowed students to immerse themselves in the working atmosphere, learn more about the specifics of the profession, and improve the level of environmental education. The excursion, organized by the leading teachers of the Department of Chemistry and Plant Protection - Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Head of the Department, A.P. Shutko, Associate Professor Tuturgans L.V. and Assistant Mikhno L.A., also had a vocational orientation regarding the employment of future graduates-agronomists for protection of plants.
