An open lecture was held at the faculty of veterinary medicine under the guidance of the Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Professor A.A. Sidorchuk, Head of the Department of Epizootology and Organization of Veterinary Affairs of the Moscow State Academy of

Prof. Alexandr Sidorchuk is one of the leading scientists and professors in the field of epizootology and animal infectious diseases. For many years he has been developing and introducing diagnostic products and medicinal preparations against animal infectious diseases and has been training qualified experts in this area. In 1990 he was awarded with the Prize of the Council of Ministers of the USSR as a developer of efficient products for the most grave and mass disease prevention in sheep.

Prof. A.A. Sidorchuk focused on changes in epizootological situation and main trends in development of diseases common for people and animals in the Russian Federation. He discussed such major diseases as plague, brucellosis, malignant carbuncle, tularemia, viral hemorrhagic fever and others. Special attention was paid for organization of veterinary inspection, introduction of innovative technologies and disease prevention.

Among a large range of animal diseases Alexander Andreevich identified animal viral diseases, which treatment is very costly as the most significant ones. He also focused on the latest technologies for biosafety monitoring.
