Ecology and energy
Start to live ecologically!
The Stavropol State Agrarian University took part in the opening of the 3rd annual youth festival in the field of ecology and sustainable development "VuzEcoFest - 2017".
The festival, which was launched on April 17 in the Congress Center "Technopolis Moscow", was opened by the Director Anastasia Evseeva. The Stavropol State Agrarian University was represented at this forum by the regional coordinator of the festival, associate professor of the Department of Economic Theory and Economics of the Agrarian Economics Department of the Economics Faculty Olga Aleksandrovna Cherednichenko.
"VuzEcoFest - 2017" is held with the support of the Moscow Government and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation. The first event of the festival was Science Slam Eco - a presentation of young scientists in the field of ecology in the format of a stand-show, during which the novice researchers shared their views on responsible consumption of natural resources, alternative energy and waste management. By the way, before the opening of the international project of popularization of science, a kind of trash-control took place - an action to exchange recyclable materials - used batteries, plastic bottles and paper for valuable gifts.
And then the invited speaker Science Slam Eco from the University of Waterloo (Canada) - neuroscientist Urbanist Robin Mazumder told about how the urban environment shapes our state of health and mood and whether it is possible to influence it.
The first Russian slamer Science Slam Eco Elena Feofilaktova, Master of the Department of Environmental Protection of the Perm National Research Polytechnic University, having studied international experience, has developed a "smart" container that gives a check for a discount or a bonus in return for a plastic bottle. According to the author of the development, such a motivating way of separate collection of garbage will improve the ecological situation and can be used by large producers of beverages and household chemicals.
Another participant, Daria Morozova, Master of the Department of Industrial Ecology of the St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics, introduced the audience to "lean manufacturing" - a production management system based on the desire for rational use of resources. The basic principles of this system are production without losses, minimization of stocks, orientation to small lots and reduction of non-productive labor.
Slamer Inga Prishchepa, head of the laboratory of building materials and technologies of the construction department of the Tomsk State Automated Information System, together with her colleagues developed a worthy replacement for the wood in construction - foam concrete with the use of industrial waste. It turns out that if the main component of the foam concrete (part of the cement) is replaced by ash from burning coal of TPP, its strength will increase by 25%. It is possible to increase the strength of foam concrete by more than 50% using peat from the marshes of the Tomsk region.
Another participant of the event - Master of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University Peter the Great and lead engineer of the project Polytech Solar Alexander Kozlenok together with his colleagues is working on the project of the first solar car in our country . The authors-developers believe that electric cars are still too small, and emissions from energy production for them are higher than for conventional cars. One way to create a more environmentally friendly mode of transport is the use of solar energy. At the end of Science Slam Eco, the audience was applauded by Alexander Kozlenka as the winner of the eco-show. The authoritative jury in the person of sponsors and organizers of the festival chose its winner, it was the developer of the foam concrete Inga Prishchepa.
It should be noted that the Stavropol State Agrarian University for the first time took the baton of the festival and held environmental events in its walls from April 24 to 28, 2017.
