Extremism as the plague of the XXI century
Teachers of the Chair of Pedagogy, Psychology and Sociology - Professor T.N. Dukhina and Associate Professor Khalilova Khalilova taught interactive antiterrorist training sessions with the first-year students of "State and Municipal Administration" and "Tourism" programs on May 30 and 31.
Students were invited to discuss problems of countering extremism and terrorism in a conference format. The participants of the event considered the main aspects of the topic, revealed signs of extremist activity, assessed the statistics of terrorist attacks in the world and their consequences, analyzed the use of Internet resources by terrorist and extremist organizations. Particular attention was paid to propaganda of extremism among young people and terrorist threats in social networks.
Students discussed changes in the legal framework for countering terrorism and extremism in the context of the National Security Concept of Russia.
1st year students of "State and municipal management" program V. Eremin, O. Mardirosova, A. Golubenko, T. Gevorkyan, D Nikolaenko, A. Krekshina, O. Yudina made their own presentations on this threat of Russia’s security.
Students came to the conclusion that the ideology of extremism is a substitution of the true notion of justice and honor. Therefore, we will never understand the true causes and origins of extremism, if we do not understand the psychological motives of the activities of people who execute them and order them. Extremism is politically motivated based on contradictions and clash of interests in the social, economic and political fields. And this is the extreme step of the despair of people (sometimes parties or even states) that have come to the conclusion that it is impossible to achieve their goals by legal, democratic, peaceful means.
These classes were aimed at improving information competence of students, promoting social and psychological knowledge in the prevention of extremism and terrorism.
