300 students of Agrarian University are ready to help the citizens of Stavropol region to eliminate the damage caused by the flood
300 students of the Faculties of Agrobiology and Land resources, Mechanical Engineering, Electric Power Supply, Veterinary Medicine, Technological Management together with the rector Vladimir Trukhachev, vice-rectors, and faculty administration have discussed the current situation in the region caused by the flood in the morning on May 28th 2017.
Vladimir Trukhachev informed thatthe region isunder a state of emergency because of the flood. The reason is rains that started on May 15th. Rainfall amount exceeded the normal rate and caused flood. There is a risk of dam failure that can lead to the need of emergency evacuation.
The affected area includes 15 settlements, 7 municipal entities of the region among them are Mineral Water district, Andropovsky district, Shpakovsky district, Petrovsky district, Kochubeevsky district, Predgorny district, Novoselitsky district, Nevinnomyssk, Essentuki and Svetlograd. Over 3 thousand people and 500 pieces of equipment work for the region. The emergency response group from the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Civil Defence, Emergency Situations and the Rectification of the Consequences of Natural Disasters stabilizes the dam in Otkaznoye. 1789 houses has already been flooded.
Students of the University, some of them originate from the flooded areas, are ready to help the locals.
